TUSCORA PARK HEALTH AND WELLNESS FOUNDATION REACHES $1 MILLION MARK IN GIVING

BARBERTON, OH- The Tuscora Park Health and Wellness Foundation has reached a major milestone. In just seven years of grantmaking the foundation has reinvested over $1 million back in Barberton and surrounding communities.

The Tuscora Park Health and Wellness Foundation was incorporated as a private, independent foundation in December 1996. It is the result of the merger of the former Barberton Citizens Hospital Development Foundation and the Barberton Citizens Hospital Auxiliary after the sale of Barberton Citizens Hospital to Quorum Health Group.

Since 1996 the foundation has approved grants to over 30 area organizations including The American Red Cross, Child Guidance Centers, Northeast Ohio African American Health Network, Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron and many more. The Barberton Health District has received over $100,000 from the foundation to support programs such as Not This Generation, a tobacco use prevention project, Maternal Smoking Reduction Program and Adolescent Substance Abuse Program to name a few. The Barberton Area Community Health Clinic has also been a major beneficiary of foundation funds receiving approximately $295,000 over the seven year period for daily medical treatment operations and special projects such as the Community Mammography Program.
