Hospice is a special program that provides compassionate care for the terminally ill and their families. Barberton Hospice & Palliative Care seeks to help patients to carry on an alert, pain-free life and to manage other symptoms so that their last days may be spent with dignity and quality.
The physician-directed team of professionals and volunteers works closely with the patient and family to deliver quality medical care and to provide comprehensive emotional support. The Hospice team acknowledges that no patient or family member should go through a terminal illness alone.
Hospice service is available to persons who:
Have a terminal illness with a prognosis of six months of less to live.
Can no longer benefit from aggressive therapies to prolong life
Accept the philosophy of Hospice care
Have a physician willing to be responsible for medical care
