Barberton Community Foundation/Barberton High School
Over the course of one school year, high school students were responsible for the allocation of grant money for charitable activities. Youth participants learned about: Nonprofit Organizations; Governance; Grantmaking; Fundraising
The program is supervised by Holli Mallak, the Foundation’s Director of Programs and Scholarships. BHS advisor Heather McMullen facilitated the meetings during the school day, with sessions occurring monthly for the school year. The program is based on earlier version of the program at BCF as well as the Youth Advisory Committee program of the Grand Rapid Community Foundation in Michigan.
