The Foundation’s Magic Scholarship program assists current Barberton residents who graduated from Barberton High School and who attend college full-time (12 hours or more per grading period) and have completed either their sophomore or junior years. Magic Scholarships are open to any major.
Applicants must: Be entering their Junior or Senior year of undergraduate education, as designated by credit hour accumulation policy at the university; produce an Official College Transcript (not report card) that shows a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average; Show proof of Barberton residency (within Barberton City limits) since at least January 2006; Not be a current recipient of the BCF Barberton High School Scholarship scholarship/Academic award; be a graduate of Barberton High School.
To show proof of Barberton residence, applicants must submit photocopies of two of the following: Driver’s license; Parents’ utility bill; Voter registration card showing assigned polling location; City income tax return; OR a notarized copy of the scholarship application.
Magic Scholarships may be used for payment of tuition and on-campus room and board.
All applicants who meet the stated criteria are entered once into a lottery system. Names will be drawn until the entire scholarship amount is awarded (amount varies year to year). Scholarships will be for a maximum of $1,000 and are not automatically renewable. Students may submit their applications twice – once for their junior year and once for their senior year. Scholarship money will be sent directly to the educational institution.
