Foundation brings back Youth Philanthropy Committee


The Barberton Community Foundation is forming a Youth Philanthropy Committee (YPC) consisting of Barberton High School students, working as a grants committee, with the assistance of a Barberton High School teacher and the Foundation’s Director of Programs and Scholarships. YPC has received funding from the Barberton Community Foundation to redistribute to the community. The mission is to find the best way to improve the lives of the of Barberton residents.


YPC requests the submission of proposals that will positively impact the Barberton community. The application can be a new program or the expansion of a current program to be implemented between June 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011. Notifications to grant applicants will be made by May 21, 2010.


There is between $5,000 and $7,000 available. An organization may request between $500 and $5,000. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2010.


The committee is interested in reviewing applications that provides a positive impact in the community. It is suggested, but not mandatory, that the target population be children from birth to age 18.


To be eligible, applicants must be 501-(c)(3) organizations and government entities of the city of Barberton willing to work with the funds given by YPC to establish programs for the purpose of positively impacting the Barberton community.
