Endowment, Pass-Through & Scholarship Funds
Housed at the Barberton Community Foundation

Endowment Funds become "endowed" once they reach $5,000 in value. Prior to this time, distributions from the fund will not occur. All distributions are in accordance with the Foundation's spending policy (5.5% of a rolling twelve-quarter average of the value of the individual funds).

Pass-through funds do not need to reach any specified level of funding. In addition, all of the money in the fund may be drawn down by the beneficiary in accordance with the terms of the fund. Once the fund is depleted, it terminates.

Designated Endowment Funds – These endowed funds are designed to provide an on-going source of money to the charitable entity specified in the endowment agreement.

Jeep Davis Olympic Hopeful Fund – Benefits Youth Sports in Barberton.

Larry Furman Diabetes Benefit Fund – Assists Barberton citizens suffering from diabetes and assist their families with hardships caused by the disease.

Barberton Head Start Endowment Fund – Assists Barberton Head Start with the cost of providing services, including a health clinic and "Help Me Grow Services."

Esther Ryan Endowment Fund – Provides funds to the Esther Ryan Shoe Fund, which provides shoes, clothing and other necessities to Barberton children in need.

Barberton Community Health Clinic Endowment Fund – Assists with operating expenses for Barberton's free healthcare clinic, serving the uninsured and underinsured.

Barberton Elks Lodge 982 Health Clinic Fund – Benefits the Barberton Community Health Clinic.

Barberton Public Library Endowment Fund – Supports the on-going operation and programs/projects of the library.

Bonnie Joyce Myers Memorial Mum Arch Fund – Supports the Mum Arch display at the City's annual Mum Festival.

Heart of Gold Humane Fund – Assist low-income Barberton residents spay or neuter their dogs and cats and also assist with the cost of rabies vaccines.

Magical Theatre Company Endowment Fund – Benefits the children's theater located in downtown Barberton.

Dr. Robert Littlejohn Salvation Army Fund – Benefits the Barberton Salvation Army.

Dr. Robert Littlejohn Red Cross Fund – Benefits the Barberton Red Cross.

City of Barberton Beautification Endowment Fund – Supports the City of Barberton's Beautification Department, or its successor, in providing funding for the on-going beautification efforts throughout the City of Barberton.

Barberton Military Honor Roll Renovation Fund – Supported the rebuild the Honor Roll located on the West side of Lake Anna and now assists in the permanent upkeep of the monument.

Barberton Historical Society Endowment Fund – Benefits the Organization.

Barberton Community Development Corporation Economic Development Fund – Helps further the organization's mission of helping grow Barberton's economy through job creation and retention.

Albert W. & Rose E. Kimak Charitable Foundation of Summit County, Ohio Barberton Community Health

Clinic Fund – Helps the Clinic continue its commitment to the uninsured and underinsured of Summit Co.

Pass-Through Funds

Barberton Summer Concert - Assists the City of Barberton in providing funding for the summer concert series, held in downtown Barberton each summer.

Barberton Parks Youth-In-Action Fund – Promotes healthy lifestyles for Barberton youth through creative programming.

Barberton Parks Senior Focus Fund – Proceeds assist the Parks Department in providing programs for senior citizens.

K. Jack Greynolds Memorial Classic Fund – Proceeds from this fund assists the Lake Anna YMCA Community Center in stroke education and awareness as well as youth programs and equipment.

City of Barberton Beautification Endowment Fund – Provides funding for the on-going beautification efforts throughout the City of Barberton.

O.C. Barber Statue Fund – Proceeds used for the design and construction of a statue of Barberton's founder, which was placed in Lake Anna Park. Excess funds will be used to create a permanent endowment fund to aid in the maintenance of the O.C. Barber statue and the Chief Hopocan Statue.

Barberton Historical Society O.C. Barber Wishing Well Fund – Maintains the historical marker or for acquisition, refurbishment and maintenance of any other Barber property.

Barberton Community Health Clinic Pass-ThroughFund – Assists with operating expenses for Barberton's free healthcare clinic, serving the uninsured and underinsured.

Barberton Area Community Ministries Pass-Through Fund – Assists with the food pantry and BACM's other services including budget counseling, referrals for rent and utilities assistance and others.

Coalition of Concerned Christians (Soup Kitchen) Pass-Through Fund – Assists with operating expenses and providing hot meals for the less fortunate.

Larry Bidlingmyer Memorial Bike Ride Pass-Through Fund – Supports the annual event.

Bonnie J. Myers College Prep. Support Fund – Provides college support and information to BHS students in grades 10-12

Scholarship Funds – All but one of these funds is an endowed fund designed to provide an ongoing source of money to assist Barberton students with the cost of higher education.

AAA Barberton/Ohio Auto Club Scholarship Fund – Assists high school seniors living in Barberton who are graduating from local high schools with vocational/technical degrees. Also allows nontraditional and current university students to apply as well. First preference is given to students entering technical/vocation studies in fields relating to automotive design and repair and travel and tourism training.

Barberton Band Boosters' Henda Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund – Assist the Band Boosters in funding its scholarship program, which is designed to assist BHS students with the costs associated with post high school education.

Barberton Community Foundation Board of Directors Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS graduates with the cost of college.

Dr. Milan Pavkov Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS graduates pursuing a degree in education. Dr. Pavkov was the Foundation's first chairman and a former Barberton Schools superintendent.

BHS Alumni Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS graduates with the cost of college.

James A. and Juleen Colombo Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS graduates majoring in elementary education.

Lois and Gary Matney Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS graduates with the cost of higher education in the field of registered nursing. The Fund is in memory of Nellie Welty Rouch, R.N., the mother of Lois Matney.

Leach Family Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS graduates with the cost of attending college.

Harry J. Bauschlinger Memorial Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS students majoring in education.

Barberton PTA Muffet Family Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS students with the cost of college.

Emilio C. Chu, M.D. Nursing Scholarship Fund – Assists Barberton residents majoring in nursing.

Barberton Elks Lodge 982 Memorial Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS students with the cost of college.

Bonnie Joyce Myers Memorial Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS graduates majoring in Secondary Education or Career and Technical Education (two-year associate degree in secretarial science) at Kent State University. Does not make its first award until 2008.

Craig Wilson Journalism Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS graduates majoring in journalism.

Summa Barberton Hospital Medical Endowed Fund – Assists a Barberton student attending NEOUCOM.

Barberton PTA Council Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS graduates with college.

Thomas L. Angerer Memorial Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS students with the cost of college.

Verne & Helen Scott Scholarship Fund – Aids BHS graduates seeking a degree in construction management or a related field.

Dr. Douglas A. Gormley Scholarship Fund – Assists BHS graduates with college costs.

Harnden Family Fund for Academic Excellence – Supports Barberton students, at all grade levels, participating in academically related competitions at the state, national or international level. Participants may be part of a group/team or may be an individual competition.

Mayor Robert Genet Leadership Scholarship – Aids BHS graduates who have shown leadership in their school and community through volunteer work and other initiatives.
